Alternative Provision Coordinator
Location: Northampton
Start Date: ASAP or September 2026 | Full-Time | Permanent Preferred (Fixed-Term or Long-Term Supply Considered)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a supportive and forward-thinking secondary setting in Northampton seeking a committed Alternative Provision Coordinator to join their team. This is a full-time opportunity available for an immediate start or from September 2026, with the school ideally looking to appoint permanently, although fixed-term contracts and long-term supply arrangements will also be considered.
This rewarding role involves supporting students who require alternative provision, ensuring they receive the highest standards of pastoral care, intervention, and educational support. You will work closely with senior leaders, staff, families, and external agencies to promote inclusion, improve engagement, and help students achieve positive outcomes.
The role will involve:
- Coordinating the day-to-day running of internal alternative provision spaces
- Supporting students with behaviour, engagement, and reintegration into mainstream education where appropriate
- Planning and organising review meetings for students accessing alternative provision
- Monitoring student progress, attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing
- Working collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure effective support plans are in place
- Supporting quality assurance processes for external alternative provision placements
- Maintaining accurate records and producing reports for senior leadership
- Promoting a culture of inclusion, high expectations, and positive relationships throughout the provision
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working within education, pastoral support, inclusion, or alternative provision settings
- Possess strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Be highly organised with excellent communication and record-keeping abilities
- Have a strong understanding of SEMH needs, safeguarding, and inclusive practice
- Be confident working collaboratively with students, families, staff, and external professionals
- Be passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and succeed
