Job Description
Learning Support Assistants - SEMH Specialist School (Irthlingborough)
September Start | Temp to Perm | Via Tradewind Recruitment
Tradewind Recruitment is seeking enthusiastic, patient and resilient Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join a specialist school in Irthlingborough from September. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity within a highly supportive and nurturing environment, ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
The school supports children and young people who have struggled in mainstream education due to social, emotional, behavioural, or learning difficulties. Many students have experienced disrupted schooling or periods out of education, and the school's aim is to help them rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and develop positive life skills.
Students may have a range of additional needs and learning differences, including autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. Many also have individual education plans in place to ensure learning is tailored to their needs. The school also supports young people who may be out of education or at risk of disengaging from learning.
A strong emphasis is placed on emotional wellbeing and personal development. Staff use a supportive, relationship-based approach to help pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn. The school follows a therapeutic and trauma-informed ethos, meaning consistency, patience, and positive communication are at the heart of everything they do.
As an LSA, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. This may include:
- Providing classroom and 1:1 support to help students access learning
- Helping pupils manage emotions and stay engaged in lessons
- Encouraging positive behaviour and building confidence
- Supporting social development and independence skills
We are looking for individuals who are calm, caring, and committed to making a difference. Experience in education, youth work, care, sports coaching, or other people-focused roles is welcome, but not essential. Transferable skills such as communication, resilience, teamwork, and patience are highly valued.
This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to build a long-term career in education, with full support, training, and the potential to secure a permanent role.
