Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistants to work in schools across the Corby area.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as graduates considering careers in psychology, counselling, social work, or education.
The Role:
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students who may be experiencing emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges. Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams, you will help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
Building positive relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and resilience.
Supporting students to regulate emotions and engage positively in learning.
Assisting teachers in implementing individual support plans.
Encouraging positive behaviour and social development.
Working collaboratively with school staff, parents, and external agencies where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or additional support requirements.
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to remain resilient and professional in challenging situations.
A genuine passion for supporting young people's mental health and wellbeing.
