Design Technology Teacher

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Design Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 for suitable candidates.

  • Teach a range of DT disciplines, depending on your specialism and the needs of the school.

  • Develop students' practical, design, problem-solving, and evaluation skills.

  • Create a safe and stimulating learning environment within workshops and classrooms.

  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in line with school policies.

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and additional learning needs.

  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement, and participation.

  • Ensure all health and safety requirements are adhered to during practical activities.

  • Contribute to the wider Design Technology department and school community.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching Design Technology within a secondary school setting.

  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for practical and creative learning.

  • Excellent classroom and workshop management skills.

  • The ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
