Bank SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for caring, adaptable and enthusiastic Bank SEN Learning Support Assistants to join our team and provide flexible support across specialist schools, alternative provisions and mainstream settings throughout Northamptonshire.

This role is ideal for someone looking for flexible work around existing commitments, studies, family responsibilities or another role. As a Bank SEN LSA, you will be able to choose the days you are available and gain experience in a range of rewarding educational settings across Northampton, Corby, Kettering, Wellingborough, Daventry, Towcester and the surrounding areas.

You will support children and young people with a variety of special educational needs and disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), ADHD, speech, language and communication needs, moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, and physical disabilities.

No two days will be the same. You may be supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis, working with small groups, assisting within the classroom, helping pupils to access learning, supporting emotional regulation, or providing personal care where required. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and wider support teams to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to thrive.

The Role Will Include:

  • Supporting pupils with SEND on a one-to-one and small-group basis
  • Assisting pupils to access learning activities and classroom routines
  • Supporting children with communication needs using visual timetables, PECS, Makaton, AAC or other communication strategies where appropriate
  • Helping pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour support and social development
  • Supporting pupils with personal care, feeding or mobility needs where required
  • Promoting independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning
  • Following individual education plans, EHCP targets, risk assessments and behaviour support plans
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and wider school staff
  • Maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Adapting quickly to different school settings, routines and pupil needs

We Are Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable adults with additional needs
  • A patient, compassionate and flexible approach
  • Confidence working with pupils with ASC, SEMH, learning difficulties or communication needs
  • The ability to build positive relationships and remain calm in challenging situations
  • A willingness to work across a range of schools and provisions in Northamptonshire
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Tradewind Recruitment
