We are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to work in a range of welcoming primary and secondary schools across Leicestershire, with roles starting in August 2026.

Whether you are an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or have transferable experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) access learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide tailored support in both one-to-one and small group settings.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence and independence.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Assist with behaviour management using positive and inclusive strategies.
  • Promote a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies where appropriate.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school, care, youth work, or similar settings).
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and wellbeing.
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
