We are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive school in Leicester for a dedicated Learning Mentor to join their team from August 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.

The Role

As a Learning Mentor, you will provide tailored support to pupils who require additional guidance, helping them to develop confidence, improve engagement, and achieve both academically and personally. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring sessions.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage confidence and resilience.
  • Help students overcome barriers to learning and improve attendance and engagement.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people in a school, education, youth work, or care setting.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire young people.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
