Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning? Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Support Officer to join a supportive secondary school in the Corby area.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals with experience in education, youth work, pastoral care, mentoring, social care, or similar support-based environments.
The Role
As a Student Support Officer, you will play a vital role in promoting student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and engagement with learning. You will work closely with pupils, families, teachers, and external agencies to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed both academically and personally.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing pastoral support to students across the school
- Supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Building positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and attendance
- Working alongside teaching staff to remove barriers to learning
- Monitoring attendance, punctuality, and student wellbeing
- Supporting behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches
- Liaising with parents, carers, and external professionals where required
- Assisting with safeguarding and student welfare procedures
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring, or support setting
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- A genuine passion for supporting young people's development and wellbeing
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
