Mental Health Teaching Assistant - Corby

Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Start Date: ASAP

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Corby. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with their emotional wellbeing, mental health and personal development.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who may experience SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, helping them to manage their emotions, build confidence and engage positively with their education.

The Role

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs

  • Supporting students with emotional regulation and wellbeing

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils

  • Helping students develop their confidence, resilience and independence

  • Supporting positive behaviour and encouraging engagement in learning

  • Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team

  • Helping create a safe, calm and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children's mental health and wellbeing

  • Calm, patient and empathetic

  • Confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour

  • Able to build strong relationships with young people

  • Resilient and consistent in their approach

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, particularly within education, care, youth work, mental health or support work

Psychology, counselling, youth work, care or SEN experience would be particularly beneficial, but is not essential.
