Student Welfare Officer - January Start

Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential to become permanent)

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a compassionate and proactive Student Welfare Officer to join a supportive secondary school environment in Northamptonshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people's wellbeing, engagement, and overall success in school.

About the Role:

  • Provide day-to-day pastoral support for students across the school

  • Work closely with the safeguarding and pastoral teams to support student wellbeing

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to help remove barriers to learning

  • Act as a key point of contact for students experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges

  • Liaise with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies when needed

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding procedures

  • Support attendance, behaviour, and welfare initiatives across the school

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in pastoral, safeguarding, youth work, or a similar student-facing role

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A calm, empathetic, and supportive approach

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider safeguarding and pastoral team

  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and procedures

  • Passion for improving outcomes and wellbeing for young people
