Mechanical Engineering Lecturer - Further Education

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established Further Education (FE) college in Northampton to recruit a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer to join their growing engineering department.

This is an excellent opportunity for professionals from industry or education who are passionate about developing practical skills, technical knowledge, and employability in learners aged 16-19 and adult students. The Role:

As a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across a range of mechanical engineering programmes. You will support students through both theoretical and practical learning, helping them progress into apprenticeships, higher education, or skilled employment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in mechanical engineering

  • Teaching across Level 2-3 programmes (with potential for higher levels)

  • Assessing student work and providing constructive feedback

  • Supporting learners' academic and personal development

  • Contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement

Subjects & Areas May Include:

  • Mechanical principles

  • Engineering materials

  • CAD/CAM

  • Maintenance and manufacturing processes

  • Health & safety and workshop practice

Requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline

  • Industry experience and/or teaching experience within FE

  • A teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, or willingness to work towards one)

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • Commitment to safeguarding and learner success
