Mental Health Teaching Assistant - Corby

Contract: Full-time / Part-time (term time only)

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a supportive and inclusive school in the Corby area that is seeking a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with their emotional wellbeing and mental health needs.
The Role:
As a Mental Health TA, you will work closely with pupils who may experience anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, or social and behavioural challenges. You'll provide tailored support on a one-to-one or small group basis, helping students to engage positively with learning and school life.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
Building positive, trusting relationships with students
Assisting teachers in creating a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
Implementing behaviour and emotional support strategies
Working collaboratively with SEN staff, teachers, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or young people with mental health or SEMH needs (school, care, youth work, or similar settings)
A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A genuine passion for supporting young people's wellbeing
Relevant qualifications or training in psychology, mental health, or education are desirable but not essential
