Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)

Location: Corby
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time/ Temp-to-perm
Salary: £90 - £95 per day (dependent on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a supportive and inclusive school that is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (SEMH) to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage positively with learning and develop emotional regulation, confidence, and independence.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant (SEMH), you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs

  • Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement

  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams

  • Help create a calm, structured, and safe learning environment

  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

  • Support pupils both in and outside of the classroom as required

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs (school, alternative provision, youth work, care, or similar)

  • Be calm, patient, and resilient, with strong behaviour management skills

  • Be able to build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult

  • Have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection

  • Be flexible, reliable, and committed to supporting vulnerable learners
