Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)

Location: Corby
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time
Pay: £90-£95 per day (dependent on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and inclusive school that is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (SEMH) with a background in mental health, psychology, youth work, or therapeutic support. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a structured and nurturing environment.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant (SEMH), you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs

  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and wellbeing

  • Help pupils access learning by building trust and positive relationships

  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams

  • Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom

  • Contribute to a calm, consistent, and safe learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience or training in mental health, psychology, counselling, youth work, care, or therapeutic settings

  • Be calm, empathetic, and resilient, with the ability to de-escalate challenging behaviour

  • Understand safeguarding, child protection, and professional boundaries

  • Be confident supporting pupils with emotional and behavioural needs

  • Be reliable, adaptable, and committed to supporting vulnerable learners
