Mental Health Teaching Assistant - SEMH School (Corby)

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Corby.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of mental health who is passionate about supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis

  • Assisting students in managing emotional regulation, anxiety, and challenging behaviour

  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals

  • Helping to create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience, and engagement in learning

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has a strong understanding of mental health, trauma, and emotional wellbeing

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs (school, care, youth work, or mental health settings all welcomed)

  • Calm, patient, and resilient with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

  • Able to build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult

  • Confident in managing challenging behaviour in a supportive, consistent manner
