Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Support Assistant to work within a supportive school setting. This role is ideal for someone passionate about mental health, emotional wellbeing, and supporting young people to succeed both academically and emotionally.
The Role
As a Mental Health Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them to manage challenges and engage positively with learning.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support for students with mental health and emotional needs
Supporting pupils experiencing anxiety, trauma, low mood, or emotional regulation difficulties
Assisting with behaviour management and classroom engagement
Implementing strategies set out by the SENCO and external professionals
Promoting a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
Passionate about supporting mental health and wellbeing
Calm, patient, and empathetic
Experienced working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, or mental health settings)
Confident supporting students with SEMH needs
Interested in a career in education, psychology, counselling, or mental health services
This role is well suited to graduates or individuals with backgrounds in psychology, social care, youth work, or support roles.
