Graduate Teacher Programme - Kettering Area
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner by agreement)
Location: Kettering and surrounding areas, Northamptonshire
Contract: Fixed-term Graduate Programme (School Experience → SCITT Interview Pathway)

Are you a recent graduate considering a career in teaching? Our Graduate Teacher Programme offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience in a supportive secondary school environment before progressing onto a SCITT teacher training route.
This programme is designed for graduates who want to build confidence in schools, develop teaching skills, and secure a supported interview for a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) place.
About the Programme
Successful candidates will spend time working in a partner secondary school in the Kettering area, supporting lessons, working with small groups, and developing their understanding of teaching and learning. During the programme you will receive mentoring from experienced teachers and guidance on preparing for teacher training.
At the end of the placement, candidates who demonstrate commitment and potential will be offered a guaranteed interview for a SCITT training place with our partner training providers.
Key Responsibilities
Support teaching staff in lessons across your subject specialism
Work with small groups and individual pupils to support learning
Assist with classroom preparation and behaviour management
Observe experienced teachers to develop teaching skills
Take part in training sessions and professional development
Prepare for progression to SCITT teacher training
Ideal Candidates Will Have
A degree (2:2 or above preferred) in a relevant subject
A genuine interest in becoming a teacher
Strong communication and organisational skills
A positive, resilient, and professional attitude
Experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)
