Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent (preferred) | Fixed-Term or Long-Term Supply considered
Salary: MPS/UPS (depending on experience)
Are you someone who enjoys bringing Food Science to life in the classroom and showing students how science links to everyday food and nutrition?
Do you like teaching practical, engaging lessons where students can see the real-world impact of what they're learning?
We're working with a secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint a Food Science Teacher from September 2026. They would ideally like someone on a permanent basis, but they're also open to fixed-term or long-term supply depending on the right fit.
The Role:
- Teaching Food Science across KS3 and KS4
- Planning and delivering a mix of practical and theory-based lessons
- Helping students understand nutrition, food preparation, and the science behind ingredients and cooking processes
- Setting clear expectations and tracking student progress over time
- Giving feedback that helps students improve and stay on track for exams
- Keeping the classroom safe, organised, and well-managed during practical sessions
- Working with colleagues to contribute to a supportive and well-run department
The Ideal Candidate:
- Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
- Strong understanding of Food Science / Food Technology content
- Comfortable teaching both practical cooking and classroom-based theory
- Able to keep students engaged and on task in a practical environment
- Organised, reliable, and confident with behaviour management
- Keen to be part of a team and contribute to school life
- ECTs are welcome and will be fully supported
