English Lecturer - Northampton
Start Date: June or September 2026 | Full-Time | Permanent (long-term supply considered)

We're working with a secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint an English Lecturer from June or September 2026. The school is ideally looking for a permanent member of staff, but they're also open to long-term supply for the right person.

It's a supportive department with a clear focus on improving outcomes, encouraging reading and writing, and giving students the confidence to engage with English in a meaningful way.

The Role:

  • Teaching English across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 depending on experience and timetable)
  • Planning and delivering lessons that are clear, structured, and engaging
  • Supporting students to improve reading, writing, and analytical skills
  • Adapting work to suit different abilities within the classroom
  • Contributing to marking, assessment, and tracking progress
  • Getting involved in department resources and wider school literacy work

What We're Looking For:

  • QTS/QTLS (or equivalent) in English
  • Good subject knowledge across English Language and Literature
  • Someone who can build positive relationships with students
  • Confident classroom presence and solid behaviour management
  • A practical, reflective approach to teaching
  • ECTs are welcome to apply and will be supported properly
