Job Description

Specialist SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Corby

We are seeking a highly committed and experienced Specialist SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work on a supply basis across schools in Corby. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with autism and associated needs.

As a Specialist SEN LSA, you will provide tailored, pupil-centred support, enabling learners to access the curriculum through carefully planned differentiated learning strategies. You will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to adapt activities, scaffold learning, and implement individual education plans (EHCPs), ensuring each student's needs are met effectively.

A key aspect of this role is having a secure understanding of autism spectrum conditions, including communication differences, sensory sensitivities, and social interaction needs. You will use structured approaches, visual supports, and consistent routines to create a safe and engaging learning environment. Your ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils will be essential in supporting both their academic progress and emotional wellbeing.

The successful candidate will be patient, resilient, and proactive, with experience managing a range of behaviours in a calm and supportive manner. You should be confident working one-to-one or with small groups, as well as collaborating with teaching staff and external professionals.
