We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Daventry that is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join its pastoral team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to promoting positive behaviour, improving student engagement, and helping young people achieve their full potential.
About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students who require additional behavioural, emotional, or pastoral support. Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral leaders, and families, you will help create a positive and supportive environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group behavioural support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4
Build positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and personal development
Support students in managing their behaviour and making positive choices both inside and outside the classroom
Assist with the implementation of behaviour support plans and targeted interventions
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and parents to support student progress
Help de-escalate challenging situations using calm and effective behaviour management techniques
Monitor and record student behaviour, attendance, and progress accurately
Support students in reflection rooms, intervention spaces, or alternative learning environments where required
Promote resilience, self-confidence, and a positive attitude towards learning
Who We're Looking For
Experience working with young people in schools, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, care, or alternative education settings
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management
The ability to remain resilient and professional when supporting students with challenging behaviours
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them achieve success
Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential for candidates with suitable experience
