Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be supporting the launch of an exciting new Alternative Provision in Towcester, opening this October. We are seeking an exceptional Head of Alternate Provision to lead the centre from its opening, creating a positive, nurturing and aspirational environment where every young person has the opportunity to succeed.
This is a fantastic opportunity to shape a brand-new provision from the ground up. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing a culture built on high expectations, strong relationships and personalised support, ensuring students develop the skills, confidence and qualifications needed for successful futures. The provision follows a practical, vocational and student-centred approach, helping young people become more employable, socially confident and prepared for their next steps.
The Role
As Head of Alternate Provision, you will:
- Lead the day-to-day management of the centre, ensuring outstanding standards of education, safeguarding and student wellbeing.
- Inspire, support and develop a dedicated team of teachers and support staff.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, local authorities and commissioning schools.
- Drive improvements in attendance, behaviour, engagement and outcomes.
- Create an inclusive, trauma-informed culture where students feel safe, valued and motivated to achieve.
- Monitor performance and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Champion a curriculum that combines academic learning with vocational opportunities and personal development.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has significant leadership experience within Alternative Provision, SEMH, SEND, PRU or specialist education settings.
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Has an excellent understanding of safeguarding, behaviour support and inclusive education.
- Can motivate both students and staff through positive relationships and high expectations.
- Is resilient, compassionate and committed to improving life chances for vulnerable young people.
- Has excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
