SEN Supply Teacher - Northamptonshire

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting passionate, adaptable and resilient SEN Supply Teachers to work across specialist schools, alternative provisions and inclusive mainstream settings throughout Northamptonshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for qualified teachers who are looking for flexible work while continuing to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs. We are recruiting for day-to-day supply, short-term cover, long-term placements and temporary-to-permanent opportunities across Northampton, Corby, Kettering, Wellingborough, Daventry, Towcester, Rushden and the surrounding areas.

As an SEN Supply Teacher, you will support pupils across a range of age groups and educational settings. You may work with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), speech, language and communication needs, moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, complex needs and challenging behaviour.

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and inclusive lessons, following school plans where provided, adapting activities to meet individual learning needs and maintaining a calm, positive classroom environment. In some placements, you may work alongside experienced teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral teams and behaviour support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective support.

The Role Will Include:

  • Delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to pupils with a range of additional needs
  • Following lesson plans, EHCP targets, behaviour support plans and school policies
  • Adapting teaching approaches to ensure learning is accessible and meaningful
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, communication and social development
  • Managing classroom behaviour using a calm, consistent and positive approach
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider school staff
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
  • Providing feedback and handover notes at the end of each placement
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and professionalism at all times

We Are Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or relevant UK teaching experience
  • Experience working within SEN, SEMH, alternative provision or inclusive mainstream settings
  • Strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills
  • A patient, flexible and resilient approach
  • The ability to quickly build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Tradewind Recruitment
