A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Milton Keynes is seeking a compassionate and motivated Pastoral Support Officer to join its dedicated pastoral team on a permanent basis from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people by providing guidance, encouragement, and practical support both inside and outside the classroom.

Working closely with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, you will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance, supporting emotional wellbeing, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Providing pastoral support to individual students and small groups to improve engagement, attendance, and wellbeing

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students who require additional emotional, behavioural, or pastoral support

  • Supporting students to develop resilience, confidence, self-esteem, and positive attitudes towards learning

  • Working alongside teaching staff to promote positive behaviour and encourage successful participation in lessons

  • Monitoring attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and student progress, implementing intervention strategies where appropriate

  • Liaising with parents, carers, external agencies, and school staff to ensure students receive the appropriate support

  • Supporting students during unstructured times, helping to maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive school environment

  • Contributing to the school's wider pastoral and safeguarding provision while promoting student wellbeing at every opportunity

We're Looking For Someone Who:

✔ Has experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, pastoral care, social care, or a similar setting

✔ Builds positive relationships quickly and communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues

✔ Has a calm, empathetic, and resilient approach when supporting students facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges

✔ Can confidently promote positive behaviour using restorative and supportive approaches

✔ Is organised, proactive, and able to manage a varied workload

✔ Is passionate about improving outcomes and removing barriers to learning for every student
