Inclusion Support Officer - Secondary School

A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Milton Keynes is looking to appoint a dedicated Inclusion Support Officer to join its student support team on a permanent basis from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting inclusion, improving student engagement, and supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning.

Working closely with the pastoral, SEND, and safeguarding teams, you will provide targeted support to students who require additional guidance, helping them build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships within school.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for students requiring additional academic, behavioural, or emotional support

  • Delivering targeted interventions to improve engagement, attendance, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour

  • Supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD, and other additional learning needs

  • Building positive, trusting relationships that encourage students to engage fully with school life

  • Working closely with teaching staff, SENDCo, pastoral leaders, parents, and external agencies to provide coordinated support

  • Monitoring student progress, behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing, ensuring appropriate interventions are implemented

  • Promoting inclusion by helping students develop confidence, resilience, independence, and effective coping strategies

  • Acting as a positive role model and helping to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

We're Looking For Someone Who:

✔ Has experience working with young people in education, mentoring, youth work, social care, pastoral support, or a similar setting

✔ Has a calm, patient, and empathetic approach when supporting students with additional needs

✔ Is confident supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or those at risk of disengagement from education

✔ Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills

✔ Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while using their own initiative

✔ Is passionate about promoting inclusion and improving outcomes for every young person
