Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Secondary School

We are working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Wellingborough that is seeking to appoint a compassionate and committed Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join its team on a permanent basis from September 2026. The Role
Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Key Stages 3 and 4
Supporting students with Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language needs, SEMH, and other additional learning needs
Working closely with teachers to deliver engaging, inclusive, and accessible lessons
Helping students develop confidence, independence, and resilience both academically and socially
Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting students' emotional wellbeing throughout the school day
Adapting learning activities and resources to meet individual education plans and learning needs
Building positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure every learner receives the support they need
Helping to create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment where all students can flourish

We Are Looking For Someone Who
Has GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
Is patient, caring, and able to adapt their approach to meet individual student needs
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Can build positive, trusting relationships with young people
Is proactive, reliable, and enjoys working as part of a supportive team
Can confidently support positive behaviour in line with school policies
Has experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, coaching, or similar settings (desirable but not essential)
Is eligible to work in the UK and willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check
