Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the Kettering area. This rewarding role involves providing tailored support to a student on a one-to-one basis, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

This position would suit experienced Teaching Assistants, support workers, youth workers, graduates, or anyone with a passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.

The Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated support to a pupil with additional learning, behavioural, or emotional needs.

  • Assist the student in accessing the curriculum and engaging in classroom activities.

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school staff to implement support strategies.

  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interactions.

  • Support emotional regulation and behaviour management where required.

  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

  • Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs is desirable.

  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • The ability to remain resilient and adaptable in different situations.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and wellbeing.

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
