Sports Coach / HLTA - Primary School, Kettering

We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Kettering that is seeking to appoint a Sports Coach / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) from September 2026. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity that combines delivering high-quality PE and sports provision with classroom support, making it an ideal role for someone looking to build a rewarding career in primary education.

This varied position offers the opportunity to inspire children through sport while also supporting teaching and learning across the wider primary curriculum, helping every pupil reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging PE lessons and sports activities across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality learning within the classroom as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant
  • Lead intervention groups and provide class cover where appropriate
  • Organise and run lunchtime and after-school sports clubs and extracurricular activities
  • Plan and support school sports events, festivals, competitions, and Sports Day
  • Encourage healthy lifestyles, teamwork, resilience, and positive participation in physical activity
  • Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development across the school
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to promote positive outcomes for all pupils

What We're Looking For:

  • A genuine passion for sport, primary education, and child development
  • Experience coaching or working with primary-aged children in schools, clubs, or community settings
  • HLTA qualification or relevant classroom experience is desirable, although training may be available for the right candidate
  • Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
  • The ability to motivate, inspire, and engage children of all abilities
  • A proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic approach to supporting learning and wellbeing
  • Relevant qualifications in Sports Coaching, Sports Science, PE, or a related subject are desirable but not essential
