A welcoming primary school in Kettering is looking for a dedicated and caring 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support to a pupil with additional needs from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong relationships and wants to play a key role in helping a child overcome challenges and achieve their potential.

Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team, you will provide consistent one-to-one support throughout the school day. You will help the pupil access learning, develop independence, and feel secure within the classroom environment.

The Role:

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support a specific pupil by adapting activities, providing encouragement, and helping them engage positively with school life. You will become a trusted source of support, helping the child develop confidence, manage challenges, and make progress at their own pace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs

  • Supporting the child's learning, communication, and social development

  • Helping the pupil access classroom activities and the wider curriculum

  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil

  • Working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual support strategies

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and engagement in learning

  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour where required

  • Helping create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment

We're Looking For:

  • A patient, caring, and reliable individual who enjoys supporting children

  • Experience working with children with SEN is desirable but not essential

  • Someone who can build strong relationships and provide consistent support

  • A calm and adaptable approach to meeting individual needs

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

  • A genuine commitment to helping children overcome barriers to learning

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
