Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant - Corby

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school setting in Corby.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young people who may have faced challenges within mainstream education. The role would suit someone with experience in education, youth work, care, support work, behaviour, SEMH or mentoring, as well as those looking to develop a career within education.

The Role

As an Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who may require additional support with their learning, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement.

You will help create a calm and positive environment where students feel supported and encouraged to re-engage with education. Building strong, trusting relationships will be an important part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students.
  • Support pupils with SEMH, behavioural and additional needs.
  • Help students re-engage with learning and education.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Support students both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to support individual students.
  • Help create a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people, ideally in education, care, youth work, support work or similar.
  • Is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
  • Is patient, empathetic and resilient.
  • Has a calm and consistent approach to behaviour.
  • Can build positive relationships with students who may have struggled in mainstream settings.
  • Is confident working with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs.
  • Is keen to develop their experience within an Alternative Provision setting.

You do not necessarily need previous school experience - experience working with young people in other settings can be equally valuable.
