Tradewind Recruitment are working with a specialist educational setting in Corby who are looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Emotional Wellbeing & Behaviour Support Mentor to join their team.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to help young people overcome barriers to education and develop the confidence, resilience and emotional skills they need to succeed.

The Role

You will work closely with pupils who may experience a range of social, emotional and mental health difficulties, providing consistent support both inside and outside of the classroom.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

• Supporting young people experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties and challenging behaviour.

• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and providing a consistent source of support.

• Helping students understand and manage their emotions and develop appropriate coping strategies.

• Supporting pupils to regulate their behaviour and successfully manage difficult situations.

• Encouraging confidence, resilience, independence and self-esteem.

• Supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education.

• Using a calm, patient and consistent approach when responding to challenging behaviour.

• Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff, SENCOs and other professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.

• Encouraging positive communication, social skills and healthy relationships.

• Contributing to a safe, supportive and nurturing school environment.

• Following safeguarding procedures and maintaining appropriate records around pupil wellbeing and behaviour.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine interest in children and young people's mental health and wellbeing.

• Has experience supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.

• Is patient, empathetic, approachable and resilient.

• Understands that behaviour can be linked to a young person's emotional needs and experiences.

• Is confident remaining calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations.

• Can build strong relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Is passionate about helping young people develop and achieve their potential.

Experience within schools, SEMH settings, residential care, youth work, mental health support, psychology, counselling, sports or other child-focused environments would be beneficial.
