Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Cover Supervisor to join a specialist SEMH school in the Corby area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of the teacher, delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring students remain engaged with their learning.

Working within an SEMH setting, you will support students who may experience a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. Building positive relationships, remaining calm under pressure and maintaining a consistent approach will be key to success in this role.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising lessons and delivering pre-prepared work

  • Managing classroom behaviour positively and consistently

  • Supporting students with their emotional wellbeing and engagement

  • Building trusting relationships with young people

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and attitudes towards learning

  • Supporting students who may present challenging behaviours

  • Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and support staff

  • Providing feedback on student progress, behaviour and engagement

  • Helping to create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience working with children or young people

  • Have a genuine interest in mental health, SEMH and education

  • Are resilient, patient and able to remain calm in challenging situations

  • Can build positive relationships and act as a positive role model

  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Are confident leading and managing a classroom environment

Experience within any of the following would be highly beneficial:

  • SEMH settings

  • SEND schools

  • Alternative Provision

  • Youth work

  • Residential childcare

  • Support work

  • Behaviour mentoring

  • Mental health support

  • Sports coaching

  • Care settings

This role would be particularly suited to aspiring teachers, psychology graduates, youth workers, behaviour mentors, support workers and individuals looking to build a career supporting young people with additional needs.
