SEN Teaching Assistant - Corby

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work in schools and specialist provisions in Corby, supporting primary and secondary aged pupils with severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and physical disabilities. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs.

The role involves providing both academic and personal support to pupils who require a high level of care and structure throughout the school day. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other support staff to ensure pupils can access learning in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment. Some pupils may be non-verbal, have sensory processing needs, or require assistance with mobility and personal care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis

  • Assisting with personalised learning plans and differentiated activities

  • Supporting communication using visual aids, PECS, or assistive technology

  • Helping pupils with physical needs, including mobility support and personal care where required

  • Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence

  • Ensuring pupils' safety and wellbeing at all times

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with severe ASD and/or physical disabilities

  • Be patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a calm and positive approach

  • Be confident supporting both primary and secondary aged pupils

  • Be willing to assist with personal care and physical support

  • Work well as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
