We are currently recruiting for a Science Technician to join a well-established further education provider in Northampton from March 2026. This is a full-time, long-term position, ideal for someone with a scientific background who enjoys working in a dynamic educational setting and supporting both staff and students.
About the Role:
As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Science department across a range of courses, ensuring practical sessions run smoothly, safely, and effectively.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Preparing and setting up equipment, materials, and chemicals for practical lessons
Supporting lecturers with demonstrations and practical activities when required
Maintaining, cleaning, and organising laboratory equipment and workspaces
Ensuring all health and safety regulations are strictly followed, including the safe handling and disposal of chemicals
Monitoring stock levels and ordering laboratory supplies as needed
Carrying out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
Assisting with risk assessments and ensuring compliance with safety standards
Who We're Looking For:
A candidate with a background in science (laboratory experience, science degree, or previous technician experience)
A highly organised and methodical individual with strong attention to detail
Someone confident in following health and safety procedures and maintaining a safe laboratory environment
A proactive team player with good communication skills
Experience in an educational setting is desirable but not essential
