Workshop Engineering Teacher
Location: Northamptonshire (Further Education)

We are working with a forward-thinking college in Northamptonshire to recruit a dedicated and skilled Workshop Engineering Teacher to join their team from March 2026. This is a full-time opportunity, available on either a permanent or long-term basis, depending on your preference.

The Role:

As a Workshop Engineering Teacher, you will deliver engaging, practical-based lessons across Level 2 and Level 3 engineering programmes, supporting learners in developing essential technical and employability skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering hands-on workshop sessions in areas such as machining, fabrication, fitting, and maintenance

  • Demonstrating safe and effective use of workshop machinery and tools

  • Teaching engineering principles alongside practical application

  • Monitoring and assessing student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback

  • Ensuring health and safety regulations are strictly followed within the workshop environment

  • Maintaining equipment and liaising with technical staff to ensure resources are fit for purpose

  • Supporting students with coursework, practical assessments, and progression pathways

About You:

  • A qualified teacher (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards a teaching qualification

  • A strong background in mechanical or general engineering

  • Recent industry experience within a workshop or manufacturing environment

  • Confident operating and instructing on a range of workshop machinery

  • Strong classroom and workshop management skills

  • A proactive and supportive approach to student development
