Lab Technician - Further Education Setting in Northampton

We are currently recruiting for a Lab Technician to join a well-established further education provider in Northampton from March 2026. This is a full-time, long-term position, ideal for someone with a scientific background who enjoys working in a dynamic educational setting and supporting both staff and students.

About the Role:

As a Lab Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Science department across a range of courses, ensuring practical sessions run smoothly, safely, and effectively.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and setting up equipment, materials, and chemicals for practical lessons

  • Supporting lecturers with demonstrations and practical activities when required

  • Maintaining, cleaning, and organising laboratory equipment and workspaces

  • Ensuring all health and safety regulations are strictly followed, including the safe handling and disposal of chemicals

  • Monitoring stock levels and ordering laboratory supplies as needed

  • Carrying out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance

  • Assisting with risk assessments and ensuring compliance with safety standards

Who We're Looking For:

  • A candidate with a background in science (laboratory experience, science degree, or previous technician experience)

  • A highly organised and methodical individual with strong attention to detail

  • Someone confident in following health and safety procedures and maintaining a safe laboratory environment

  • A proactive team player with good communication skills

  • Experience in an educational setting is desirable but not essential
