We are recruiting a committed and resilient Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Alternative Provision in Towcester on a full-time, permanent basis starting March 2026. This setting supports secondary-aged students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education and are working towards rebuilding their confidence, behaviour, and academic progress in a structured and supportive environment.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is patient, proactive, and determined to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.
About the Role:
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will play a key role in promoting engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour, helping students re-engage with learning and achieve meaningful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting teaching and learning in line with the national curriculum
Working 1:1 and with small groups to improve engagement, behaviour, and academic progress
Supporting students with SEMH needs and additional learning needs
Implementing positive behaviour strategies and supporting de-escalation when required
Helping students develop resilience, social skills, and self-confidence
Assisting with classroom preparation, organisation, and daily routines
Building strong, professional relationships with students, families, and external professionals
Who We're Looking For:
Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
Experience working within alternative provision, PRUs, SEND settings, or youth support environments
A calm, consistent, and confident approach to behaviour management
Strong communication skills and emotional resilience
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training provided if needed)
Commitment to a long-term, permanent role within a specialist setting
What You'll Receive:
A secure, full-time permanent position
Competitive salary
Ongoing CPD and accredited training, including behaviour management and safeguarding
Supportive leadership and a collaborative team environment
Opportunities for progression into senior support roles or teacher training
Why Join This Provision?
This alternative setting is built on the belief that exclusion does not define a young person's future. Staff are committed to high expectations, clear boundaries, and strong relationships that help students rebuild trust in education. You will be part of a dedicated team focused on giving young people the stability and support they need to succeed.
If you're ready to make a genuine, long-term impact and help students embrace their second chance, we would love to hear from you.
