Start Date: March 2026
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications
Are you a skilled construction professional who wants to inspire the next generation?
Do you enjoy teaching practical skills while helping young people gain confidence and qualifications for their future careers?
A specialist Alternative Provision in Towcester is seeking a Construction Tutor to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis from March 2026. This setting supports secondary-aged students (11-16) who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools, giving them structure, guidance, and the opportunity to re-engage with education through vocational pathways.
This is a rewarding role where your expertise in construction can directly support students in gaining employable skills, confidence, and industry-recognised qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver practical construction lessons and workshops, aligned with vocational qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, or Functional Skills-linked projects)
Plan and prepare engaging lessons that develop hands-on skills and employability
Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records
Support students in developing teamwork, problem-solving, and health and safety awareness
Tailor teaching to meet individual learning needs, including students with SEMH or behavioural challenges
Promote safe working practices and maintain a well-organised, compliant workshop environment
Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external training providers
Inspire and motivate students to achieve their qualifications and reach their potential
The Ideal Candidate:
Proven experience in the construction industry or vocational teaching
Teaching or tutoring qualifications (or willingness to work towards them)
Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational or alternative provision setting
Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in practical learning
Patient, adaptable, and confident in managing challenging behaviour
Committed to providing second-chance education for students with disrupted learning
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
What You'll Receive:
A full-time, permanent position in a specialist Alternative Provision
Competitive salary reflecting skills and experience
Opportunities for professional development and vocational CPD
Small, supportive teaching groups with a personalised approach to learning
Collaborative, dedicated staff team and leadership support
The chance to make a long-term, positive impact on students' employability and life skills
This is more than just teaching construction - it's about giving students the opportunity to develop practical skills, confidence, and qualifications that can open doors to apprenticeships, employment, or further training.
If you're ready to inspire young people in Towcester through practical construction education starting March 2026, we'd love to hear from you.
