Job Description

Location: Blackpool, Lancashire (FY1 - FY4) Salary: £102.83 - £122.83 per day (Weekly Pay) Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm Start Date: April 2026 (Summer Term Start)

The Role: Supporting Success in Blackpool

Are you a resilient and empathetic Teaching Assistant looking for a stable, long-term career move? We are seeking an SEMH Specialist to join our team in Blackpool for a Summer Term start (April 2026).

This is a Temp to Perm position. You will start via a trial period through the summer term, allowing you to ensure the school is the right fit for you before transitioning onto a permanent school contract for the new academic year. You will be working with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and may have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Key Responsibilities

  • SEMH Support: Act as a mentor for students who find the mainstream classroom environment challenging.

  • 1:1 Intervention: Work alongside the SENCO to deliver specific emotional and academic support outlined in EHCP documents.

  • Behaviour Management: Use positive de-escalation techniques to maintain a calm and productive learning space.

  • Blackpool Community Impact: Help local young people build the confidence and resilience they need to succeed.

What We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from Qualified (Level 2/3) and Unqualified candidates with the right "Blackpool grit."

  • Experience: Previous work in a school, youth club, residential care, or as a sports coach is highly valued.

  • Specialism: A genuine interest in SEND and an understanding of SEMH triggers (trauma-informed practice).

  • Reliability: As this is a Temp to Perm role, we are looking for someone committed to becoming a permanent member of our school family.

  • Availability: Must be able to commit to a full-time start in April 2026.

Why Join Our Blackpool Team?

  • Path to Permanency: Prove your worth during the summer term and transition to a permanent contract.

  • Competitive Weekly Pay: High daily rates (£85-£105) paid weekly during your initial "Temp" phase.

  • Work-Life Balance: Monday to Friday, term-time only hours.

  • Professional Growth: Access to specialised training in de-escalation (Team-Teach) and mental health support.
