Mental Health Teaching Assistant - Secondary School

Pay: £92-£95 per day

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive secondary school located on the outskirts of Kettering. This is a full-time, term-time only position with an immediate start available, and would suit someone with experience supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

The role will involve working closely with the SEN and pastoral teams to support students aged 11-16 who require additional help with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning. The school has a strong support system in place and is looking for a calm, patient and resilient individual who can build positive relationships with students.

The role will involve:

  • Supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs

  • Working one-to-one and with small groups of pupils

  • Helping students to stay engaged and focused in lessons

  • Supporting positive behaviour strategies set by the school

  • Liaising with teaching staff and the SEN department

  • Providing pastoral support where required

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behaviour, or additional needs

  • Be patient, resilient and confident managing challenging behaviour

  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Be passionate about supporting students' wellbeing and progress

  • Hold GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)

Essential requirement:

  • You must hold a Child Only DBS on the Update Service OR a Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service to be considered for this role.
