Science Instructor - Northampton (Secondary School)
Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
Start Date: June or September 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time | Permanent Preferred (Fixed-Term or Long-Term Supply Options Available)
Pay Rate: £140-£200 per day (depending on experience and responsibilities)

A forward-thinking and supportive secondary school in Northampton is looking to appoint a motivated and knowledgeable Science Instructor to join their team. While the school's preference is to make a permanent appointment, they are also open to considering candidates on a fixed-term or long-term supply basis.
This role involves supporting and delivering lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 and would suit graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with prior experience working with young people.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Delivering well-structured and engaging Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
- Assisting with lesson preparation and adapting materials to suit different learning needs
- Presenting scientific ideas in a clear, accessible, and engaging manner
- Maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Managing behaviour effectively to support a focused learning atmosphere
- Monitoring student progress and providing helpful feedback
- Taking part in departmental meetings, training, and CPD activities
Who We're Looking For:
- A degree in a Science-related subject (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Science)
- Experience supporting or delivering learning in any setting (e.g. tutoring, coaching, classroom support)
- Strong communication skills and confidence when working with groups
- A genuine interest in Science and education
- An ambition to progress into teacher training routes such as PGCE, SCITT, or apprenticeships
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
