Philosophy & Ethics Teacher - Northampton

Can you help students explore ideas around morality, belief, and human behaviour in a way that actually sticks with them?

We are supporting a secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint a committed and engaging Philosophy & Ethics Teacher from June or September 2026. This is a full-time role, available on either a long-term supply basis or as a permanent position for the right candidate.

The school is looking for someone who can bring energy and depth to the subject, encouraging students to think critically and challenge ideas in a structured and respectful way.

What the Role Involves:

  • Teaching Philosophy & Ethics / Religious Studies across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 may be available)
  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons that promote discussion and critical thinking
  • Exploring topics such as ethics, religion, philosophy, and worldviews
  • Creating a classroom environment that encourages curiosity and respectful debate
  • Supporting learners of all abilities with clear explanations and structured guidance
  • Working with the Humanities department on curriculum planning and enrichment activities

Who We're Looking For:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS, QTLS, or equivalent) - ECTs welcome
  • Strong subject knowledge in Philosophy, Ethics, Religious Studies, or related Humanities field
  • Confident leading discussion-based lessons and managing classroom dialogue
  • Inclusive teaching approach with a focus on student engagement and progress
  • Effective classroom management skills

Experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers will both be considered, with support available where needed.
