Job Title: Mental Health Support Worker (SEMH School) - Tradewind Recruitment
Profile Summary:
A dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker with experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in specialist school settings. Committed to promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in education through a supportive and structured approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
- Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, valued, and understood
- Support students in developing emotional regulation and coping strategies
- Assist teachers in managing behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Implement individual behaviour plans and therapeutic strategies
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations effectively
- Monitor, record, and report on student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with school staff, SENCOs, and external agencies
- Encourage attendance, engagement, and personal development
Skills & Experience:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural, or mental health needs
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Experience in schools, PRUs, or alternative provisions (desirable)
