Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (dependent on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment are delighted to be working with a well-regarded secondary school in the Kettering area seeking an ambitious and inspirational Head of Physical Education to lead their successful PE department from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PE teacher or current middle leader looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the department's vision, driving academic achievement, and promoting a culture of participation, health, and wellbeing across the school community.

The Role

As Head of PE, you will:

* Lead and manage the PE department, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and Key Stage 5 where applicable)
* Develop and implement an engaging, inclusive, and ambitious PE curriculum
* Monitor student progress and use data effectively to raise attainment and participation
* Support, mentor, and develop members of the PE team
* Promote excellence in sport through extracurricular clubs, fixtures, competitions, and enrichment opportunities
* Work collaboratively with senior leaders to contribute to whole-school improvement priorities
* Foster a positive and inclusive environment where all students can thrive through physical activity

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Has a relevant degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related subject
* Demonstrates a strong track record of delivering high-quality PE lessons
* Has leadership experience or the ambition and capability to lead a department successfully
* Possesses excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
* Is passionate about promoting sport, physical activity, and healthy lifestyles
* Has high expectations for student achievement and behaviour
