Maths Teaching Assistant - Secondary School

Location: Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

Contract: Full-Time | Permanent
Salary: £24,031 - £26,920 per annum (dependent on experience)

We are working in partnership with a successful and inclusive secondary school in Milton Keynes that is seeking to appoint a dedicated Maths Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026 on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest in mathematics who wants to make a real difference to students' progress. Working alongside the maths department, you will provide targeted support to help students overcome barriers, build confidence, and develop a positive attitude towards the subject.

The Role

  • Supporting the maths department in delivering engaging and effective lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Working with students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to strengthen mathematical understanding

  • Providing additional support for students who require help with numeracy, problem-solving, and key mathematical concepts

  • Supporting students with SEND and additional learning needs during maths lessons

  • Delivering targeted interventions to improve confidence, skills, and academic progress

  • Encouraging students to develop independence and a positive approach to learning

  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities, resources, and lesson preparation

  • Building strong relationships with students to help them achieve their full potential

  • Is confident supporting students with mathematics across secondary age groups

  • Has a patient, encouraging, and positive approach when working with young people

  • Can explain mathematical ideas clearly and adapt support to different learning needs

  • Builds positive relationships with students, teachers, and support staff

  • Is reliable, organised, and able to work effectively as part of a team

  • Has experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)
