Learning Support Assistant - Secondary School

Location: Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

We are working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Milton Keynes that is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026 on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young people and wants to be part of a school that values inclusion, personal development, and helping every student succeed.

The successful candidate will provide tailored support to students who need additional help in the classroom, working closely with teachers and the wider support team to remove barriers to learning and encourage independence.

The Role

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups across the school

  • Providing additional support for pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties

  • Helping students access lessons and engage confidently with their learning

  • Working alongside teachers to deliver targeted support and adapted activities

  • Encouraging students to develop independence, resilience, and self-confidence

  • Supporting positive behaviour and helping create a calm and inclusive classroom environment

  • Building trusted relationships with students and providing encouragement throughout the school day

  • Working as part of a wider team to support the academic, social, and emotional development of pupils

The Ideal Candidate

  • Is caring, patient, and approachable when working with young people

  • Has a genuine interest in supporting students with additional needs

  • Can build positive relationships and communicate effectively with pupils and staff

  • Is adaptable and able to respond to the needs of individual students

  • Works well as part of a team and is willing to get involved wherever support is needed

  • Has experience in education, SEND, childcare, youth work, mentoring, or a similar environment (desirable but not essential)
