Job Description

Individual Tutor

Location: Northamptonshire

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Contract: Flexible - Full-time, Part-time, Long-term, Short-term and Temporary Opportunities Available

Are you a passionate educator looking to make a real difference through one-to-one teaching?

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking dedicated and experienced Individual Tutors to support children and young people across Northamptonshire. These rewarding opportunities are available within local schools, alternative provisions, community settings, and through referrals from the Local Authority, supporting pupils who require personalised education outside of a traditional classroom environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for qualified teachers, tutors, or experienced educators who are passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As an Individual Tutor, you'll deliver tailored one-to-one or small group sessions to pupils with a range of additional needs and circumstances. Students may be unable to attend mainstream education due to medical needs, anxiety, SEMH needs, SEND, behavioural challenges, or other reasons, meaning your support will have a direct impact on their educational journey.

You will:

  • Deliver engaging, personalised lessons that meet individual learning needs.
  • Plan sessions that support academic progress while building confidence and engagement.
  • Adapt your teaching style to suit each learner's abilities and circumstances.
  • Record progress and provide regular feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, parents, carers and other professionals where required.
  • Create a positive, nurturing and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Qualified Tutor status, or substantial tutoring/teaching experience.
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, SEN, Alternative Provision or tuition.
  • A good understanding of SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD or other additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to engage learners who may have experienced disrupted education.
  • A patient, resilient and flexible approach.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is desirable due to the nature of travelling between placements.

Why Join Tradewind Recruitment?

  • Flexible opportunities to suit your availability.
  • Work across a variety of schools, Alternative Provisions and Local Authority referrals.
  • Competitive daily and hourly pay rates.
  • Access to ongoing CPD through The National College.
  • Dedicated support from your specialist education consultant.
  • Opportunities for long-term placements and permanent positions.

Whether you're looking for a full timetable or want the flexibility to work around other commitments, we'd love to hear from you.
