Are you passionate about supporting young people with their mental health, emotional wellbeing and personal development? Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the Corby area from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives of young people, particularly those who may experience SEMH needs, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties or challenging behaviour.

The Role

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils and the wider pastoral and teaching team to provide tailored support both inside and outside of the classroom.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students experiencing social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, confidence and self-esteem.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Helping pupils to engage positively with learning and school life.
  • Supporting students who may display challenging or dysregulated behaviour.
  • Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff and SEN professionals to meet individual needs.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and developing pupils' independence.
  • Providing a calm, patient and consistent presence for students who may require additional support.
  • Following safeguarding and school policies at all times.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children and young people's mental health and wellbeing.
  • Patient, empathetic and approachable.
  • Confident supporting students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • A strong communicator who can build positive relationships.
  • Reliable, adaptable and committed to supporting students to reach their potential.
  • Experienced working with children or young people in an educational, care, youth work, mental health or support setting is desirable, but not essential.
