Student Support Officer

Location: Corby

Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a dedicated and proactive Student Support Officer to join a supportive secondary school in the Corby area. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about student wellbeing, behaviour support, and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

About the Role

As a Student Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff, and families, you will help promote positive behaviour, improve attendance, and support students with their emotional and social development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral support to students across the school.

  • Work with pupils who may be experiencing behavioural, emotional, or attendance-related challenges.

  • Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and achievement.

  • Support behaviour management strategies and restorative practices.

  • Monitor attendance and punctuality, following up with students and families where necessary.

  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure students receive appropriate support.

  • Contribute to safeguarding and student wellbeing initiatives across the school.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with young people in an educational, youth work, support work, or pastoral setting.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • The ability to remain calm and professional when managing challenging situations.

  • A compassionate and resilient approach.

  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.

  • A genuine commitment to supporting students to succeed both academically and personally.
