Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a confident and resilient SEMH Cover Supervisor to join a specialist school in the Corby area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, who is also confident leading groups and delivering sessions or learning activities.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting students with their learning, behaviour and emotional wellbeing, whilst maintaining a calm, structured and positive classroom environment.

The Role

As an SEMH Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes and deliver pre-planned lessons and activities, whilst providing additional support to students who may experience social, emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising classes in the absence of the class teacher

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons, activities and learning sessions

  • Leading small-group activities and interventions where required

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs and barriers to learning

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young people

  • Managing behaviour using calm, consistent and positive approaches

  • Supporting students with emotional regulation and engagement

  • Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning

  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider support team

  • Creating a safe, structured and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural or emotional needs

  • Experience delivering sessions, activities, interventions or learning to groups of young people

  • Confidence managing groups and maintaining positive behaviour

  • The ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A patient, resilient and supportive approach

  • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their potential

We would consider candidates from a range of backgrounds, including Cover Supervision, Teaching Assistance, Behaviour Support, Youth Work, Sports Coaching, Residential Care, Alternative Provision and Support Work, provided they have relevant SEMH experience and confidence delivering sessions.
